My newest addition to my work shop . Had to have a pocket jig to make my screen door .I was using 1/2 in. boards so I set up the jig to 1/2 inch ,set the stop for the same and I could not find 3/4 in. screws for my pine boards so I ended up with 1 in. . One inch worked ok but on a few screws the screw head was a 32ND of an inch higher than the board when it was screwed in tight . I took a scrap board and adjusted my stop so I went about 1/8 inch deeper and that seemed to do the trick . This is my first pocket hole job . I don't have much tools to work with so I am limited to what I can make ,nothing too fancy or too advanced .I'm retired and having fun with what I have so far .

It sounds like your stop collar on the drill bit was not set correctly and that you are using the wrong type of screw. I haven't worked with 1/2 inch stock but i know there are screws with a smaller diameter head. The regular screws can be cut with a good pair of lineman pliers.

Thank's R.E. I'll go with "the heads are too big ". Yes just a wee too big . I had everything else set to specs. I'll have to order some from Kreg . Stores do not have a good selection of some things ,it's understandable.

I saw the video Kreg put out for this new jig and had high hopes for it.
I purchased one today and am very disappointed with it.
First the docking station is extremely cheap. The plastic is pathetic. A Lego has more…
