I'm looking for some recommendations on dust collection systems.  I usually do most cutting/sanding outside but it's too cold for that now.  Any thoughts?

Hi Jens, I got the harbor frt dc just like yours I have to return it though, My wife bought it at the sale price of 189.00 but I have the 139.00 coupon, either they will give me a store credit or I'll return it and buy it again, The sales man told my wife I could get the extended warranty for this within 30 days of the purchase and considering that it came from harbor frt I might do that with the extra I'll be saving. I also ordered the cyclone lid and other accesories from rockler. I'll let you know how I make out

I don't know what your budget is, but I got the Delta 50-760 for Christmas. I dumped about 8 gallons from my shop vac on the floor and the Delta picked up every bit of it in about three seconds. I then hooked it up to my 13" planer and planed a pile of boards. The bag was full and there was only about a thimble-full of sawdust that made it to the floor.
o ok. that makes sense. but does the dust collector provide all the suction you need or is there a secondary blower in the trash can? i ask cause i see a wire coming out of the trash can.

Wat it is is a primary collector,It keeps all heavy chips and saw dust in the garbage can and can be used with any tool by opening or closing a blast gate or switch hose from machines all time like I do. All heavy stuff falls in can and dust  goes to dust collector and micron filter. You will notice one hose runs fromcan to dust  collector that stays  on an dthe other one collects from machine so it can be switched t various machinery.hope this helps youbag

I've read several different opinions about grounding the hoses in a dust collector system, Jens I see you grounded yours is it through all of the hoses or just at the cyclone, some sites say there is a possibilty on an explosion and other articles said although on paper it could happen no one ever heard of it, Some of the articles said to ground the system so you won't get a static electric shock, Once again I'm confused
the wires are grounding wires,Dust collector is all suction you need

Yes it is only grounded through the hoses to dust collector. Frankly I really don't see where you need to ground it .I have read same type articles about explosions etc but nobody can say for sure it it happens . Maybe in a cabinet shop that runs 1000's of feet a day and metal piping. I have a grnd wire on planner, table saw and router table. so when I switch hose to different machine I just tag onto that wire

Jens once again Thanks, I ordered th expandable hose from rockler and I couldn't figure out how you could run a ground wire that would work with a hose that can expand and contract like that

I run the wire through and add maybe the length of stretch to it.My hoses dont really have any stretch so it was kind of simple fora old man to figure out

Happy New Year, everyone. Im still deciding on my dust collection needs and have decided that  the hf 2hp might be to big for my requirements. Does anyone has the Rockler 3/4hp wall mount? Rockler makes good products and 650cfm is good for most power tools. Any feedback would be appreciated.
HF had a smaller model and I bought one and took it back because it was not strong enough.  You might check out their web site and see what the small looks like.  I do a lot of planing and need extra capacity so I went with the big HF model and I have had it for about 7 years.
