Hello, my name is Frank Katen, I currently live in Royal Palm Beach, FL after retiring from the NYPD. Been dabbling on and off the last ten years with beginner projects. Recently bought thr K-5 to build a step stool for my grand daughter after Ana White's recommendation. Got a few missing tools for Christmas this year and renewed my interest. Looking for tips and direction to improve my skills.

Hi, I'm Gordon Nicol from Edinburgh, Scotland.
I'm sure like many of you newcomers, I had no idea what a pocket hole was, even although I've been doing woodworking for quite a few years. I used to live in Dallas where I had a two car garage and was so proud of the fact that I had a table saw, drill press, band saw, Delta scrollsaw, workbench etc and could still get both cars into the garage. Now that I'm back home living in Scotland, I live in a two bedroom flat (apartment) and have a bathroom closet for a workshop.

But, it has just made me super efficient and extremely organised.

When I bought the Kreg R3 jig, I wasn't really sure exactly how I would use it or what to make.

Initially, it looks a bit complicated and I procrastinated before really trying anything. Then,I first tried it out on some scrap. I was really impressed at how easy it is once you get your head around it. I couldn't believe just how strong the joint was and was eager to find a real project to use my Kreg on.

For a long time I had been searching for something that would hold a coffee cup on the arm of my couch and I bought this “organiser tray” made out of fabric but, although the idea was good, the piece was pretty flimsy and useless. So, I decided to create my own. At first I wasn't sure about using pocket holes and, since it had been quite some time since I did my practise ones, I almost decided against as I wasn't 100% sure I could remember the procedure. Anyway, I convinced myself that I should and was again really surprised at just how easy it is. What I love about this system is the fact that you only have to drill in the one piece of wood. When I think back to the cumbersome way I used to do this by clamping the pieces together and the screwing through one piece and into the other, and in doing so, often pushing them apart, I am just so glad that I got myself this little beauty. Whoever came up with this idea deserves a medal as it is absolutely brilliant.
For this one, I just held the pieces together without clamping and screwed the pocket hole screws in but, for future projects I've ordered the Woodpeckers M2 Box Clamps which look like they will give me really square joints.

Hello everybody

  New to woodworking and just want to say hi.

My name is john i live in new mexico and want to learn all i can about making things with wood.

I don't know if i introduced myself yet. I have a few hobbies. I own a surplus Military truck that me and friends take to cart shows and veteran events. We use them to honor our service men and women, pay and present. I also do a lot of woodworking projects. I bought the Kreg jig last year and finally got to use it. It works great. I'm in the process of making a craft center for my Mother with it. It's almost done. It melted projects go so much quicker.

Hello, my name is Robert. I'm brand new to woodworking and have decided to jump in and give it a try. I have a few project ideas for the house. My garage is small so my first project should be to build a folding work bench. However, I'm probably going to start out making a chair. I tried making a cordless drill holder and shelf last week, but I really botched the job. Turns out cutting straight with a circular saw takes some practice. The Kreg Rip Saw guide and a straight edge should help me with future cuts though. Anyways, I plan on posting pics of my projects and soliciting ideas.
