Big Kahuna Woodworks here. Located down in central Texas area.

I have been a hobbyist furniture and cabinet builder for well over 20 years.

About five years ago I "retired" from my 9-5 job to do this stuff full time.

My shop (which is out behind my house) is paid for, I has accumulated about 10,000 bd ft of lumber in various species. Buisiness was good till the recession hit. So it was back to a day job. That lasted till last year.

Had a much better financial situation so I quit the day job and am back to doing this again.

Buisiness is very good right now. As I am a one man shop I have low overhead.

And as I tell my friends, I have a short walk to work.

Over the years, on many woodworking forums I see the question asked....."Should I become a full time woodworker ??

My response is YES. If its something you truely love, give it a chance. Life throw unexpected curves.

My only regret is I wish I could have survived the earlier recession. Because this is a great life, doing this.

Hello.  I'm Jack G.  I'm writing this from my winter home in TN but my real home is in SD.  I have a shop in both locales.  I'm 83, a retired Naval Aviator (from the prop era).  Married to the same woman for more than 60 years and she is still good looking.  Probably because she is 8 months younger than I am and has almost no grey hair. She has never colored her hair either!  We have 5 children, 4 boys and 1 girl.  8 grandkids and 1 great grandson.  I've built a few simple furniture items and a few small items for our church and parochial school plus lots of toys for any child that wants them.  Made about 70 toy trucks this past winter for schools, individuals and charity.  I have 2 Kreg 4 kits, one for each shop.  I've only used one of them for one project but I liked the first effort well enough to buy the second kit.  I hope to get into the second kit soon.  (It hasn't been opened yet.)  Looking forward to getting some needed information later.

My name is Scott Loveless from Newark, DE. I just retired and am anxious to expand my woodworking skills. An older friend introduced me to Kreg jigs, so I have used pocket holes for a number of recent projects, including a sofa table and a grandchild picnic table. Have downloaded a number of Kreg projects, so I'm excited to get started on them.

Hey Jack G, I'm also in Tennessee about 60 miles west of Chattanooga, also retired but as a police captain. If you're close to Middle Tennessee maybe we could collaborate. kwsyler@gmail.com

Hi! I'm Paul Bjork from SoCal high desert. Just bought a K5 the other day after it being on my wish list for years. I'm glad I waited for the K5. I haven't got a chance to use it but have fameralized with the tool from the comfort of my lazy boy. Tomorrow I will make some dust... In the past few months I've made a few art display frames. During each build I kept telling myself if I only had a Kreg jig I'd be finished by now. Lucky for me the frames were made out of reclaimed wood so the joints look as rustic as the wood. Looking forward to the future of nice ,fast, and easy projects. Nice to be in a group that enjoies wood working.

My name is Scott and I live in Georgia.  I haven't done a lot of woodwork but I find myself watching too much TV in the evenings which is not very productive.  As my wife calls it, I want to start using my "tool museum."  Recently purchased the Kreg Jig R3.  Recently used it to build some corn hole boards.  Kreg Jig made it very easy.

Hello distinguished woodworkers!

My name is Steve and I am from Central Michigan. I have done plenty of wood working, however framing/building garages doesn't count here right?

I recently decided that I wanted to start making furniture for the house. I think that has been the main motivation for my recent purchases. I am hoping to get started on our new Dining room table this weekend. AlI it took my wife was 20 minutes on pinterest to request an entire house full of furniture! HA! I do not have much experience with pocket holes, although I've known for awhile they are surely the way to go in furniture building.

I have already seen tons of awesome pictures, so I am sure glad I came across this forum. I look forward to getting to know you guys better and picking up some pointers along the way.
