This was my first chair & I really enjoyed it.  Another reason I didn't steam the slats is because they are a compound curve (a very shallow S).  As to time spent, the more I think about it, I probably have about 30 hours in construction time plus finishing.

Very cool - thanks.  Yeah, I'm working up the courage to try chairmaking and thought I would start with a rocker.  But I don't want to spend the time setting up a steam box and having it turn out that I hate steaming or chair-making.  I'm sure chairs are a rabbit hole in terms of time and technique.  I'm sure mine will take MUCH longer than a week!

Thanks, Russ.  I band sawed the slats.  I was willing to waste the wood rather than take the time and effort to steam/bend them.  It is comfortable, but if I were to do it over again, I would put a bit more 'bend' in the back slats.  I have no idea of the hours involved.  I completed the project in about a week's spare time.

Nice chair, Dennis.  Did you bend the back slats and seat slats or band saw them to the shape you wanted?  Is it comfy?  How many hours do you think you have in it?

I purchased one today and am very disappointed with it.

First the docking station is extremely cheap. The plastic is pathetic. A Lego has more…
