Had a great result with Kreg building over the weekend. (See my "Art Storage" album of photo's. https://kregjig.ning.com/photo/albums/quick-art-storage-solution)

My wife is an artist. Had a pile of canvasses and framed prints cluttering up our basement outside her studio. But, no good way to store them.

Saw a design online. Except it seemed weak without a panel on the back. So, figured out how to modify the approach using a 2 ft panel at the bottom.

It took 3 sheets of pre-finished Maple 3/4 inch ply. Found some bright red wheels (4" or so). Had the store rip the ply sheets in half into 2 ft widths. Because of it's use, she didn't need finished edges so the plys are visible. (Actually, she tells me she would have been fine with cheap pine from Home Depot. She's right. And I knew we'd still like good wood better.)

Started last Saturday. Cut everything on Saturday in a few hours. Just used a circular saw and a straight edge. Worked pretty well although the addition/subtraction caused a few headaches. But, the straightedge and circular saw worked fine.

Sunday morning I ran to Lowes for some add'l screws and the bolts for the wheels. Drilled the pocket holes on Sunday afternoon and assembled the entire piece in our garage (despite 100 degree heat). Probably spent another 4 hours working on Sunday. (Also went to a movie, went shopping, etc...)

Net costs: The pre-built one I saw online was $1492 plus s&h and I would have had to assemble it. Instead, I built it for under $200 in material using really nice plywood. And, it's stronger, better built, and better fits my wife's needs.

It stores around 100 canvasses and framed prints (I counted). Would store more if they were all 3/4 inch frames. But, she has many larger frames.

Wouldn't call this woodworking. It's just great storage for us and it took only one weekend to build it. Pretty fun to feel like we can get organized that easily.

5 stars !!! Nice layout, well planed, good usage of the plywood. Wheels are a nice touch. Purchasing prefinished ply- wood was very smart and time and money saving. You can always add any face frame later, if you decide.
Thanks, David. As a bit of a novice it's good to get feedback...
