What I mean is something that I can set the jig into so that the bottom surface is longer, like what the wings do on the K5. If I'm using larger pieces of wood I can't keep them from tipping to one side or the other. I put stuff underneath to prop them up but I don't have anything the right thickness so I always still have to struggle to keep them level. I don't really have the ability to make one myself-is there something I can buy?

Gale , Kreg has a Materials support stop Item # kjss  , $9.99 , It is under kreg jig acessories

I saw those but don't they have to be installed on a track? I couldn't find a track. Could I get by with 2 or would I need more? I don't work (my husband does all that) so I'm trying to budget for this.

Gale , you can just screw them down to work bench, to each side of your jig and yes two would work for you , hope this helps

ok thanks. I don't have a work bench. I have a piece of plywood on 2 sawhorses but the plywood isn't really something I want to screw something into since it's leftover good plywood from a past project. I'll see about getting some kind of surface I can screw the stops into.

ok after doing some searching and reading, it sounds like I could permanently attach my jig plus two of these to a piece of wood and then clamp that onto my plywood that sits on the sawhorses.

My husband actually has a nice workbench, if only I could find the top of it. It's completely covered with all of his tools and parts for his tractors and farm junk.

Thanks for all of the help. :)

You are welcome, a lot of the big box stores , like Lowes or home depot  carry them , save you on shipping!! You could also buy a 1 " X 8 " x 6 ' for around $7.00 and mount your jig and stops on that to handle the longer boards  and just clamp the board to the saw horses!!

I'll check home depot. There's no Lowe's near me. I'm pretty sure I have a board around here that I can use for them, or even a smaller piece of leftover plywood. I just hate to screw them down to the one I'm using as a surface since it's about 2' x 4' and is not quite as nice as the hardwood stuff but it's a/c ply so it's at least nice on one side. lol.

I've become spoiled by the hardwood stuff though, so if I ever have a need for this piece I may just end up buying new anyway.

A shop-made platform will suffice---length and width to facilitate your needs.

EX:

1x8 x 18-24" long board, (longer if need be)---make from solid wood, plywood, or MDF.

Mount the drilling jig on the center of the board---(secure in place using Kreg washer-head screws).

Place a (shop-made) spacer on each side of the drilling jig.

Make the spacer flush with the surface of the drilling jig---(the spacer thickness can be comprised of layers of plywood, or the like, to make it flush).

Add a handle hole in one of the platform---handle hole to suffice while carring and storage of the fixture on a wall hook.

Clamp the platform to a suitable stable work surface, while in use.

Thanks for the visual. I can't make something like that on my own because of all the cutting. Home Depot won't cut anything smaller than 12" for me. So I'll get the stops and do basically the same thing. I do like that one better though. I like that it has places to store the bits.

Sounds like you need the ripcut from kreg to cut panels.

I'd like to get one. I can get my husband to cut things for me when he has time. He farms so he's usually busy, even in the off season.

eta: home depot didn't have the stops so I got 2 from amazon. When I get them I'll have my  hubby make me a board the right size and I can screw the jig and the stops to it. He bought me a big tool cabinet for christmas so I don't have to worry about room to store it on the board. :)

The rip cut is nice, but has limitations.

A table saw would be more useful for such tasks.

In a small shop or with limited working space, a small job site saw is a good choice.

New Kreg 720Pro

I saw the video Kreg put out for this new jig and had high hopes for it.

I purchased one today and am very disappointed with it.

First the docking station is extremely cheap. The plastic is pathetic. A Lego has more…
