Kreg Owners' Community

I just purchased the Kreg master system and I am planning to use it to help contruct a new kitchen for my wife and I.

I see a lot of ideas for framed cabinets but I haven't seen anything on frameless cabinets I call them euro style with no faceframe, probably using 3/4" MDF for construction.

Just looking for a little help and "many" ideas.

Thanks

IKEA has a nice Kitchen catalog of Euro style cabinets and Ideas
Hi Fred, I would check out a book by Robert W. Lang called The Complete Kitchen Cabinetmaker. He really goes through both Frameless and Framed styles and how they are put together - just substitute pocket joints for any other method of joining. You also might want to consider going with something other than MDF for the case itself - 3/4" MDF weighs an awful lot.

Craig thanks for the advise , what do think I could use instead od M.D.F. ,I'm looking mostly at cost here not necessarily weight.

In my neck of the woods a sheet of MDF is around $30 and piece of maple/oak ply is $50. For my uppers I make them 36 in. tall and 12 in. deep. That allows 10 sides out of 1 sheet, so 5 cabinet sides with no waste. If you look at it from the perspective of value, if you have to buy 10 sheets of MDF you're only saving $200. I have noticed that MDF will sag over time, it's prone to swell when it gets wet and it's definately not as durable as plywood.

Pay now or pay later, MDF as someone said on here before works well to apply targets to for target practice.
Thanks everyone , I might be looking at Birch plywood instead of mdf for the cabinets.
If you have any questions feel free to shoot me a message on cabinet construction etc.
