Kreg Owners' Community

Hi all -

If anyone has been watching my post, you know I am using Kreg products to build a treehouse, and now I need to build a slide..what is the best idea for wood to do it so it doesn't hurt or burn bottoms...may not even have to be wood.

Ideas?

Thanks!

Wood splinters.

I'd suggest plastic, or fiberglass.

ITA with Ken.  You might want to check around at some pool supply stores.  I remember as a kid the slides were often made of metal but it could get quite hot if the sun is able to hit it.

Some home centers sell plastic slides that are inexpensive and you just bolt them together. Would not get as hot usually yellow. They usually go with the treated wood build your own swing sets, something in the 10 foot length.

BOLTS,  or the like, exposed to a person/persons body part, is subjected to injury.

Any and all protrusions need to be eliminated, to reduce the risk of injury.

The bolts on the plastic slides are usually hidden or out of the way and should come with some kind of cover that go's over the end of the threads. I would go with plastic if it where me.just saying.

There are a couple versions a flat usual time and like a tube type which wold be safe for younger child like yours .

The tube are like big half a drain pipe with a flange that goes around it the flanges have holes in them and you bolt them together.

Prices have really went up since I had young kids. Especially the round slide tubes probably the safest for young kids.
