Hi Guys
I was making some garden furniture today and using 2" (50mm) coarse thread washerhead screws. It maybe just me but they were not driving in properly because the square driver (No 2) was slipping. I had a close look at the screw head and noticed that it also had a cross drive as well (Phillips style).
I occured to me that the driver was slipping out of the square hole because of the two types of drive heads. I decided to use a good Phillips head driver but this also seemed to slip out or skip out when under load.
I checked all my other screws from 1" (25mm) up to 2 1/2 (65mm) and none of them had the dual drive slots in the head.
Has anyone else noticed this dual arrangement and if so what is your opinion of it.???
Maybe Kreg are trying this out to see the customers reactions !!
Thank you

Mike,
The newer production screws, feature a dual-driver head.
Each driver, ''cross-point'' and the ''square'' is separate---one does not interfere with the other.
The square-drive must be in contact with the recess in the screw head, in all four locations,
to be most effective.
A slight tilt will cause the bit to slip.
Personnally, I prefer the ''star" heads.
Most effective when driving larger screws.
The ''star" head, provides the best grip,
followed by a hex socket head.
I'd like to see Kreg have this head style in the larger screws.

I saw the video Kreg put out for this new jig and had high hopes for it.
I purchased one today and am very disappointed with it.
First the docking station is extremely cheap. The plastic is pathetic. A Lego has more…
