I am making outdoor garden boxes out of Cedar.  I want them to keep their natural color.  Has anyone used the Timber Oil?  Is there a better choice.  I do not want to use poly or any type of topical varnish.  Appreciate your input.

To clarify.  I am looking for a good outdoor lasting penetrating oil that leaves a natural look.  Not stained.

Cabot's Australian Timber Oil, is the best on the market.

It contains more linseed oil, that others on the market.

The "Wood Toner" is the way to go.

It brings out the natural beauty of the wood.

I use ''Honey Teak''---perfect match for cedar.

On PT pine, it gives it a cedar color.

I use a Gemeni product called Total Wood Preservative (TWP) which some deck builders felt was the best.  Messmer's and Cabot are also highly recommended.  If you can still buy true penetrating oil, it is the best, but unfortunately the beloved EPA is slowly banning it.

Outdoor preservatives MUST have stain in order to block UV rays.  They also must have mold/mildew inhibitors since linseed oil is a natural mold food.
