Well, here are a couple if you don't mind the reconditioned market (think used, with a warranty:) )

Hitachi

DeWalt

Neither really top of the line but don't cost much either.

Because of your price target I assumed you were thinking corded. Battery would be well over this.

This is the one I got. It's got plenty of power.

Yikes - I guess it would. Didn't know you were shopping for a SDS system drill.

Good Luck..

Several years ago I bought a Black and Decker one that switches from drill to hammer drill works great used it with an auger for planting bulbs, built arbors and drilled trough concrete no problems I think i paid around 100 at home depot

The Bosch HD SDS Hammer-drill is an awesome tool.

It's great for HD drilling, hammer/drilling and hammering.

It also suffices as a small demolition tool, using the chisels,\.

Need to breakup some larger pieces of concrete?

Insert in chisel, select the hammer mode, and go-to-it---breaking up the larger pieces to make them manageable to handle.

Need to remove mortar from bricks?---use a chisel.

Need to take up tile rapidly from a concrete or wood floor?---use a wide blade chisel.

SDS chisels are available for concrete as well as wood.

Need to make notches in large pieces of timber?---the wood chisels will do a great job.

Faster than a beaver cutting down a birch treel.

The Bosch carbide drill bits are 2nd to none---they out perform all other carbine bits I've used on concrete work.

The Bosch costs more---but for HD use, and long years of service, it's the way to go.

Hey Ken - this is a little off topic but may be of interest to others. Ran into this deal on Bosch Cobalt bits last week. Only thing is they don't come with an index.. Not an issue for me, $25 shipped is a whopping deal on cobalt bits.

Bosch Cobalt drill bits; 1/16" to 1/2"

John,

Thanks for the heads-up.

I have a set of Bosch Cobalt bits---

A must have for some serious concrete drilling.

They stay sharp longer, and cut faster than other brands I've use.

With the proper "speed and feed", they will drill thru hard stone/rock.

I drilled several anchoring holes in solid aged concrete, in a matter of minutes---they cut very smoothly, with little pressure.

The carbide bits can be sharpened, as needed---I use a diamond steel to keep the cutting edges tuned).

A light spray mist with a little water in the drilled hole, just enough to wet the stone, speeds up the drilling process, and keeps the dust down.

I use an air compressor to clean out the holes.

Worked for me.

You talking about cobalt or carbide tipped? Cobalt is for drilling HSS, stainless and other tough to drill metals,

Yeah, I can sharpen carbide bits on my Drill DR as long as I have the right flute pitch.

John,

oops---I started the response re the Cobalt bits, then got distracted and switched to the Carbide bits.

I use both types.

I've found the Cobalt drills faster in mild steel vs the HSS drill bits,

and they last longer.

The problem with Harbor Freight tools is that they may no longer work the second time you need them.

Very true, but for $10 I got a 2 year replacement warranty. So, if it craps out, I get a brand new one, no questions asked.

Nick,

you wrote ''...no questions asked.''

Not true---

ha

they'll ask you for your receipt, your name and information...
