Hey everyone, I thought I'd let you know that all General Tools pocket hole screws and accessories are on clearance at Home Depot. I got everything in the pic below for $11! The 100 count boxes of 1¼" are down to $1.60 and the #2 square drive extensions are only $1.40. I wiped out all the screws and bought an extra extension set. YMMV (Your mileage might vary).

Nick,
Don't expect to get the project quality that one gets using the Kreg tools.
Sometimes, a deal is not a deal.
Thanks for the heads up. I just went and cleaned out the store near me.
Are you sure you don't work for Kreg? Actually, I have found the General Tools screws to be excellent. I just wiped out my second Home Depot today after work.
Good point Ken - but now that Kreg went with shiny screws, can't find any difference between theirs and General.
Those nickel plated screws will ''RUST"!
They'll ''shine'' while in the package, as long as they stay dry.

John,
So what's the benefit of Kregs ''shiny'' screws?
Perhaps the newer finish is less costly to produce, or
they went to a different vendor.
If it's an alternate vendor, perhaps they don't have the finishing facilities that the former had.
Looking at the screws, with a naked eye, the average person won't see the difference.
Most people prefer things that ''shine''.
I want the older screws---the ''dull'' coated finish---they are more resistant to oxidation over nickel.

Nick,
Nope---I don't work for Kreg.
I hope they continue to offer quality products.
I visited my local HD today, I saw they were ''wiped out'' of the screws you mentioned---
BUT---
there were only 2 packages on a peg.
What a ''wipe-out'' ;-)

Also---
the General (R) square #2 tip drive, noted in the photo above---
the corners will ''round off'' PDQ, and render it useless.
I use ''hardened'' square tip bits, designed for ''impact-duty''.
Just hit two more HD's and got another 10 boxes.

I saw the video Kreg put out for this new jig and had high hopes for it.
I purchased one today and am very disappointed with it.
First the docking station is extremely cheap. The plastic is pathetic. A Lego has more…
