I;m curious if anyone is aware of plans for Mission style furniture design with Kreg Jig joinery in mind?

Or do most people simply accomodate traditional plans?

THanks,

hey michael,
I've been doing a bit of mission style furniture using my kreg jig and a dowelling jig. i don't have too many pics but i do a preliminary design on google sketchup. what kind of furniture are you looking to make? I'm in the process of building a morris chair with flat arms. will post pics this weekend.
cheers,
mo
Thanks for the reply, I am very found of the mission style and styles of that period. I would like to "eventually" make a pair of morris chairs and matching sofa. I thought best to begin with some tables. I'm really new to wood working but typically jump in with both feet.

I've seen a lot of comments about google sketchup, is this a free download? Do you find it fairly easy to use?

I've found a few inexpensive mission plans on the internet, I was just curious if it's difficult to modify the joinery to use pocket hole vs. other types the plans utilize?

michael,
yeah sketchup is free and very easy to use. most mission style furniture will have good old mortise and tenons. you can use the pocket holes where the joints can be hidden like a joint between the rail and post of a table. i tend to avoid using the plugs where they can be seen. if you see my pics i've made a mission style bench using nothing but pocket holes. if you download sketchup, i can send you plans of it and the morris chair i'm making.
cheers,
mo
I've downloaded Google SU, I'll have to play aroiund a bit to learn how it functions.
