Kreg Owners' Community

I'm fairly new to woodworking and a new Dad, but I finally got around to my long awaited project. This was my first time using a Kreg jig as well as my first major project. I was a little nervous at first, but a few practice joints and I quickly became a pro.

The base cabinets are actually traditional 12" wall cabinets that I placed on top of a frame of 2 x4"s and 3/4" plywood.

The shelves are made with 3/4 " Birch plywood with traditional casework and white beadboard. The Bookcase is 12' long and goes up to the ceiling (approx. 7').

I created 8 small shelves for DVDs and taller shelves on top for larger books. The TV opening fits a 46" TV perfectly with room for the cable and DVD player below. I ran electrical to each bookcase for any future lighting or electronics I may have.

All total, it probably took me about 200 hours to complete. I'm really slow and made a few mistakes, but it was a great project to jump into and start using the Kreg Jig. I feel fully comfortable with the jig and can't wait to get going on some more projects!

Tom,

Great looking project!

It appears you know what your doing,

and enjoying woodworking.

I don't know if impressive covers this one.  I have no background in woodworking and I got a Kreg for a Christmas present and just flat afraid to try it.  This is the thing my wife would like built but I'm smart enough to start smaller.  Having trouble finding plans.  I like the look of the right or left side with the lower two door cabinet and open top.  Suggestions would be helpful.  I can be reached at khcpa52@gmail.com.  Thanks - KIM

for a newbe---his first mayor project---

this guy deserves lots of credit, for this undertaking and posting, to share with the Kreg community.

  The unit looks very functional.

Look closely at the door design---

can’t make those with a hammer, saw and chisel.

With time and practice, he’ll make ‘’ impressive’’ projects.

Beautiful work!  Very inspiring as we've been wanting to get something like this done in our bedroom for awhile now :)

Tom,  Great work, especially for a first project!

Please show us pics of both sides of one of the doors and tell us how you made the doors.

I purchased one today and am very disappointed with it.

First the docking station is extremely cheap. The plastic is pathetic. A Lego has more…
