Warranty on Kreg Clamp

What's up with Kreg having no warranty on the Kreg Clamp?  Mine had the inside threads strip out from normal use so I sent Kreg an e-mail asking if the clamp was under any kind of warranty and was told the clamp is not a warrented part. Anybody else run into this problem with the clamp?

My Kreg clamp recently stripped the threads too. Did you have any luck or have you found any similar products with manufacturers that will stand by their product?

I had no luck. Was told by Kreg there is no warrantee on this. Couldn't find anything similar so I just replaced it with a new Kreg clamp. Hopefully they've improved the thread design and this one will last a bit longer.

Thanks for the warning. I always thought those clamps were way over priced. I would not have bought another one. What makes you think they improved it?

Not a thing. I said I hoped they improved it. I looked around and couldn't find anything out there that was similar made by someone other than Kreg.

Hi Terry - would be helpful to note which clamp. Rockler carries 9 different Kreg clamp configurations.

The best thing to do, to reduce friction and wear, is to add ''grease type lube'' to the threads.

If the threads appear dry, apply some lube.

Use spray-type lithium lube, in the areas not readily visible---such as down inside the threaded mechanism.

WD40 offers lith lube in a spray can with nozzle---for expended reach. 

Lube makes for easier turning---during tightening and loosening.

Hi Ken - I agree that lubrication helps, especially with the el cheapo clamping pliers that are the norm in my shop. I don't really care much for the grease type lubes though, usually opting for dry lubes like spray graphite.

Finishing wax works great for lubing threads and doesnt clump and grab every piece of dust and dirt in the room...

I purchased a new machine today, that has an adjustment feature, similar to the threaded mechanism in the Kreg clamps---

the adjust was stiff/not easily rotated---

lots of resistance was felt while turning

_the threads were not clean

_the action was not smooth, for this type of mechanism---

_the threads were dry---no visible lube.

  Upon close examination of the exposed male threads, they were not cut or formed smooth---

''dry lube'' WAS NOT effective.

After applying lith-grease, to the first 3 threads, the action worked smoothly and

the adjustments were easy. 

  When to use white lithium grease:

Use WD-40 Specialist Protective White Lithium Grease where a thick lubricant film must cling and remain in place on horizontal and vertical surfaces. Excellent for metal-to-metal lubrication.

My issue was with the premium face clamp. I used it a few times before it stripped. I also have the 90 degree clamp but have not had an issue with that one yet...knock on wood

Seems like these would do for a face frame clamp... just don't have the pretty blue handle covers.

Well, Good News. I had a Rep. from Kreg e-mail me directly, and was told they most certainly do Warrantee their products, and that they would be sending me out a replacement immediately. Thanks Kreg!!!
