I am new to wood working and don't know the tips & tricks & tools yet.
I got the Kreg Jig system & the precision miter. I decided to 1st make the jeff devlin book shelf. Got all the wood and got started with doing the cuts and hit a snag right off the bat. I bought a Grizzly table saw and the fence only goes to 25 inches - the plans require 34 1/2 in cuts.
I looked at the Kreg rip tool, but that only goes to 24 in - I'm stuck, how do I make the larger cuts?

What's the length of your board that you are trying to cut down.
It's sheets of plywood with 11 1/4 x 60 (2), 34 1/2 x 10 1/2 (4), 34 1/2 x 60, 36 x 12

You have to rip the sheet into 4 12" wide x 96" long sections. If you have a circular saw, you can cut the back. have you watched the video on the bookcase? He goes into detail how he makes his cuts.
I am almost done making this same bookcase. I used a circular saw, and a 48inch ruler straight edge to make a lot of my cuts for the 2 sides, the shelves, and the back. I only used the table saw and the a home made sled to cross cut my shelves to the length I wanted..
If you gonna cut 4x8 sheets of plywood, u can use a table with some 8x2x1 under the plywood to lift the plywood off the table so the blade doesn't mess up your table, or you can put the 8x2x1's or 8x2x4 on the floor and place the 4x8 plywood on them, get your tape measure, and ruler.. measure ur cut, put the straight edge down, clamp it. check for squareness(sp) and then double check your measures, and then cut...
I have to do the face frame now, and then the crown molding stuff, then stain it.. I did my bookshelf to 48" high as my wife didn't want a tall bookshelf in our sons room... lol
Thanks for the help and tips. Guess I will have to get a circular saw.
I'm just getting started, going to make mine 72", I just got the Festool Track Saw because I hate using the table saw with limited space, so far its working great.

Set the rip fence for the waste dimension, 13 1/2 minus the saw kerf.
Problem is I didn't have the plywood ripped at the store, I brought Home 2 full sheets
You can rip them on your table saw, but you'll need some help. You have to rip 4 - 12 foot wide x 96 long panels.
The 4 panels will give you 2 sides and 4 shelves. The other sheet should give you your back and top. Rip a panel 13 foot wide x 96 foot long. The other panel you'll cut to size your back.
walt, hugh clare hit it on the nose !! follow his tipp .... thats how it's done, but make sure you support the larger side of the plywood, could get pinched and kick back...
Using large sheets of plywood on a table saw solo is scary stuff.
I have NEVER been able to successfully use a circular saw ... period. So, a few years back I tried the system at the link below with tremendous success. It changed my view of cutting plywood.

Hi. I'm wondering if anyone has used the Woodpecker Free Hand Guard for dust collection on their bench top router table during pattern routing. How effective is it? It's adaptable to any router table. Continue

I saw the video Kreg put out for this new jig and had high hopes for it.
I purchased one today and am very disappointed with it.
First the docking station is extremely cheap. The plastic is pathetic. A Lego has more…
