I've just started to notice that many of the plugs I try to insert into the pocket holes do not want to slide in freely as they did once. Anyone know of a reason this might be happening? With wear does the drill bit get narrower?

I have a Fein Multi-Master and with the offset/fine tooth blade it is mear seconds to flush cut the plug head off. Then off to final sanding without any intermediate steps.

I did see that but just never tried it. I can see where tight corners could be a problem. I wonder if one of the new oscilating "Multi Tools " would work?
I use a single cut Japanese razor saw, and with only a couple of strokes of the saw the plug is off. Be careful to keep the saw absolutely flat against your work surface, because even a slight tip toward the teeth with result in a nasty scare.
No. That's not it, Joe.

Drill is worn out, which makes the diameter smaller. Replace the drill.
I use a dremel Multi-tool, set on 8, to cut my plugs flush. It works well, but you really need to pay attention and not gouge into the wood. This just creates extra sanding if you do. I still have to use wood filler to cover any tear-out from the drill or small voids that the plug might miss.
