Has anyone ever had any experience with buying any of the factory refurbished tools that are for sale on Ebay, Amazon or any other of the tool outlets that are online.

They are alot less money than purchasing new, But I wonder if the quality is the same

Several years ago I purchased a RIOBI 21" belt sander for less than half the price of the new one.  I have more than gotten my use out of it and still have it and still use it.  A great value for the money.
Most efurbished tools and other items include "retruned" unused but opened...it is no longer considered new and so is sold refurbished.  These may be better buys on normally higher quality as they are checled out and fixed if need be....whereas new tools are dumped off the assembly line with no check out!
I buy a great deal of tools, among other things refurbished.  I've not regretted one purchase.  Also, as long as you're purchasing from reputable places, you shouldn't have a problem with returning the item for your money back or a replacement.  Refurbs are great!

Thanks for the info Steve. I'm in the process of selling my house here in New Jersey and moving to North Carolina, I will for sure be looking into a road trip to Greenville once I'm down south.

Hey Joe,

It's near greenville, SC.  They don't have anything on the web.  Super deals.  They average a little over 60% discount from HD for the refurbished Ryobi or Ridgid tools.  The new tools are about 50% off.  Last month I picked up a Ridgid compact jigsaw, RO sander, super clamp and a 23 gauge nailer.  Also another Ryobi drill with 2 batteries and charger.  They will have another sale in June.  I usually leave with my SUV full.  It's a blast!

Hey Steve

Where is the TTI Distribution Center, & do they have a on-line store.

Thanks

I live near the TTI distribution center -Ryobi and Ridgid.  The have this big sale about every 3 months with reconditioned and sometimes new power tools.  I've bought a ton of both and have no complaints with the reconditioned items.  My planer went up in smoke and I took it to the local repair center.  Got it back in 2 weeks after a warranty repair and it has been fine since then.  Nailers, drills, saws, sanders, you name it.  The  items I buy appear to be new.  Also bought a Bostitch brad nailer from Amazon and as of today it has never jammed or misfired - knock on wood.
Great.  When you get down this way let me know and I'll send you their tool listing and directions.  TTI bought Delta a few months back so I hope to see some of there tools in the future.
I did bought a lot of refurbish tools from Toolking always ben satisfied cant even tell the difference between a new and refurbished tool especialy the Dewalt tools refurbish at the Mexican factory the only difference is a little sticker saying refurbish at what date they where check out , they are as clean no scratch like a new tool ,from what I understand there are brought back to spec at the factory where they were made you save more than 2/3 on the price some times ..
Factory Refurbished does not mean that they had a defect. Most of the refurbished tools were just returned by someone who decided they did not want the tool. Then they (the tools) are given a going over and made sure that there is no damage. Most of who returned those tools used excuses as to why they were returning the tool, so naturally they have to be checked out and can not be resold as a new tool.
One of my first tool purchases was a refurbished Dewalt planner as I could not afford the 13 inch model new. It's been five years now and my tools have expanded including a new sawstop table saw and the Dewalt planner is still performing as if it were new with lots of use. I bought this thru either Amazon or Tool King for about 2/3rds the price of a new one. I would stick with known brands with good reviews.

Over the past 20 years I have purchased many Original Manufacturer Reconditioned tools and have found perfect satisfaction with my purchases. These include routers, nail guns and more. I find the quality to be superior with these items as they are always free of even the most minor defects that if they were purchased new the normal customer would probably overlook these problems. Most of my purchases were obtained from CPO RECONDITIONED TOOLS + MORE.  WWW.reconditionedtools.com
