Craftsman 10" table saw fence upgrade.

I own an old Craftsman 10" table saw with a table width of 27". I'm looking to upgrade my fence to something I can rely on. Is there a good fence out there that anyone can recommend that won't destroy my budget? Any help is greatly appreciated.

I ended up getting a Delta fence for about $155. It comes with many positive feedback, so I believe I'll be happy enough. Here is the link:

How much work was it to install this fence on the Craftsman saw?

I know that Incra has something as well. I don't think Kreg makes anything for Table Saws, though I don't know why. The router fence thoughts could easily be adapted to the TS, similar to what Incra has done.

I know the whole issue can be frustrating. You are right to consider the solution. I will say that if I had everything to do over, I would have gone with the EZ Smart system from EurekaZone from the beginning. Their table and bridge is as accurate as the table saw, more versatile, much safer, and much more mobile. You will invest about $1700 total, but be happier in the long run. I have the system but not the table. I can not tell you how many times I wished I could have my table saw on site, or just outside in the front of the house instead of the basement. The bigger the sheet goods the more mobile matters. That mobile thing is worth quite a bit to me. The accuracy of the Aluma fence and the EZ Smart are equal, and that means a lot to me as well. The cheap fence that came with the old contractor type table saws were more of a safety hazard than a help with cutting. I was so happy to get rid of mine. Before you get a new fence, you might want to think about the the entire system. Grizzly has a starter table saw, with an Aluma Classic fence for $635 ( just tossing out ideas since I do not know your allocated budget).

Who knows? Maybe someone has a fence jig plan??

It was 28 cents for a retaining ring to keep the elevation shaft in place. Without it, the blade would drop down below the table line during use. Now, it stays in place.

As for the fence I ordered, it's still in transit. I was hoping it would arrive today, but no dice. I keep playing the waiting game...

OK, it arrived tonight at 8:00 pm. Who knew UPS delivered so late in the evening?? Now I get to make my heavy table saw even heavier!

I just installed the Delta rip fence tonight. Holy crap this is now a really cool table saw! I'll post pics soon. I think I'm gonna cry a bit. (sniff) It's a beautiful thing....

I have an older Craftsman table saw, too, and would like to update the fence. What did you have to do to install the Delta fence on the Craftsman saw?

I had to drill out a couple of holes to allow for the Delta holes in the support bars. It burned out my Dremel when I was filing some holes to make them larger for the bolts that Delta provided. Sucked, but at least it helped me attach the fence. I also used my DeWalt drill to make new holes.

Another tip, make sure your rails are level, since the Delta fence doesn't ride on the table itself, but both the front and back rails. It makes for a REALLY smooth glide. I can't wait to use this table saw now.

I've always been a big fan of the fence that was on the panel saw at school. Basically you just punch in the dimensions of your cut into the keypad and the fence automatically moves into possition, accurate to within 0.25mm. But for a saw that cost around $68,000 would you expect any less? lol
