"Welcome to world of wood-working, where $$'s usually have a 1 way relationship with your wallet! :)
As a new table saw owner, the first thing I recommend is to devise an out-feed table/platform.
Control and support the cut, all the way…"
""B" is always better - points the screw into the 'meat' of the wood.
That said, you can often get away with "A" with thicker material. Probably 80% of the time with 3/4" ply.
Rare that "A" will reliably…"
"There are countless ways to help with clamping / holding the pieces together during assembly.
Here's one from a search on "corner clamping plans" ...

"What I found interesting about the Rockler product was the clamping mechanism to hold the drawer slide.
I recently happened into the local Rockler store and saw the mounting jig was on sale.
Luckily I paused for a moment to go read the on-line…"
"These are often referred to as hanger bolts.
Commonly used with top/leg mounting plates
And corner leg / apron brackets
Bonus round - the fastener that has the coarse threads on both ends is known as a dowel screw"
"The concealed hinge jig is worthwhile investment for even a project that only requires a couple of hinges!
I've drilled 100's of those 35mm holes with a small drill press - what a pain in the process that has been.
Now I pull the Kreg…"
"2 options for driving screws in a tight space:
1) a flexible shaft extension - a real must have for the toolbox
2) right-angle driver - lots of affordable offerings for these. I have the $22 Dewalt version, nice and compact
3) Bonus - in…"
"I feel your pain as I too have such tendencies...
When those ocd moments hit me, I've marked the piece with a ruler, or cut a scrap piece to use as a spacer.
Another approach is to mark the table with tape or something for the distance - not…"
"I have built 100's of cabinets, from small uppers to 4' x 7' pantries, without glue.
The one place that I do glue is building drawer boxes.
For the European hidden door hinges, be sure to invest the <$30 in the new Kreg jig!!
"I've been working almost exclusively with maple woods for about 5 years.
This is a personal preference, along with what my customers have been asking for.
I've done a few projects that were going to be painted, and used poplar for…"
"This could be a no-harm, no-foul situation...
Since the 5/8" setting positions the hole "higher' up the board compared to the 1/2" setting, I would try re-drilling the same spot with the 1/2" setting. The seat of the…"
"Agreeing with the majority here - 99% of everything I've built has been prefinished before assembly when it was stain/poly top coat. (I avoid painting stuff like the proverbial plague - paint hates me! ;))
The trick I use with pockethole plugs…"
"Great video Nick
This should be included with every Kreg jig - perfectly illustrates the awesome possibilities that can be created on the cheap, and ideal for the most basic beginner.
I use a similar project for one of my intro to woodworking…"
"The Kreg jig is what turned me into a semi-pro cabinet maker!
Kreg used to have a downloadable 40 page introduction to cabinet building, written by Mark Duginske
I found it to be a most helpful first-introduction to cab building / design /…"
Scott, I went to the shop and prepared a sample of what I am saying about plywood jointing hardwood in a 45 degree miter. In this situation I cut the 45 degree miter on the solid stock and pocket screwed it to the plywood. I photograped and it is shown without any finish on it. There is no wood filler and if you look you will see that you can match the wood grain and color with a little work. All I did here was go through some scraps I had, therefore if you pick the lumber and the sheet goods you can make a joint that is almost non visible even without a finish. The solid stock in the one with the large black knot. It is alder and the other is a piece of birch plywood.
I bought the ACS a couple of weeks ago & have been pleased with the results on my first small project (LP record crates)... I was disappointed with the plastic accessories for the table-top, especially the T-Track stops. I'm pretty sure they…Continue
Hi guys, I'm having real trouble finding reliable stockists of Kreg screws over in the UK. I'm based in Northampton and can never find what I need. Can anyone recommend a UK stockists that also delivers?
I really like the k5 it is faster to change from different size of screws. I hesitated to update because of some of the reviews about the dust collection hook up. That to me one of the improvements it works perfect no dust to cleanup .…
