Has anybody tried this jig on 2x material despite the warning it won't work? From the instructions, I can't see why it wouldn't with longer screws, but don't want to buy the kit, try out and find out it won't do.

Chris, you'll want air movement to keep the deck dry as well as to clear debris, etc. Either way, you'll need some spacing to allow for the Deck Jig to drill/drive correctly.

Should I still use the spacers for composite decking even though there will be no shrinking? Other than for water and debris removal, is it necessary?

Larry, that is correct, the Deck Jig is not currently designed to work with '2x' material which is 1-1/2" thick.
I am adding to an existing deck that has 1 1/2 inch flooring. Will the deck jig and fasteners work with 1 1/2 inch flooring? The video only mentions 3/4 to 1 1/4 inch flooring, so should I assume that it won't?

Kenneth, if you're using a material that has a LOT of shrinkage, the Deck Jig might not be your best bet. The spacing we use is essential for proper installation of the deck boards. For most decking materials, this isn't a problem... and it all depends on how large of a gap you want for air flow, debris removal, etc. Something to keep in mind.

John, thanks for posting your insight into the Deck Jig! Really glad it worked well for you and there was no splintering or exposed heads! That's what we like to hear. As for the material of the jig... keep in mind this is incredibly durable reinforced material which we gladly back with a lifetime warranty! We've tried to hard to break them, and believe me it's a difficult feat! I think you'll be very pleased with the durability
Thanks again for the feedback!
I am going to build a deck with 5/4 wolmanized decking. One of the post asked if there was a problem with spacing because you normly install this decking tight and when it dries there is spacing. Do you think with 4/25 jig the spacing would be to large.
