Ok, like many DW735 owners have already noticed, this planer eats knives like a fat kid on cake. Are infinity knives the solution like many have said in their reviews? In my opinion, yes and no. The pros are that the knife life is much longer than the standard Dewalts, but the cut quality is not there. You will see a picture enclosed of a piece of Maple that I sent through the planer on it's second pass and how the blades pulled the grain and left small grooves. These knives are 2 sided just like Dewalt's brand and a price tag of $79.90 plus shipping. On another note, these things went through 50 board feet of hickory and not a single ding in a knife yet, but again the cut quality isn't there. So there it is folks, a 50/50 review and I'm still curious if a manufacturer will find a way to combine the best of both worlds..... When these blades are dull I will add them to the stack of 5 pairs of dull Dewalt blades that I've gone through this year..... Happy Holidays and Happy Woodworking, be safe!!

Yeah Perry it's a tough decision. I have about $800 in mine with the infeed/outfeed and the base and I am going to bite the bullet and buy a shelix head for it. I can't see selling another tool for half price and then upgrading.
Good to know.Im thinking of purchasing a planer and been doing some reading. For the most part Ridgid got a decent review but Dewalt seemed to be the favorite.Maybe a floor model is the way to go
