The Craftsman Auto Switch

This just might be one of the best accessories for the Kreg Jig. Imagine this, you plunge your drill into the Kreg Jig's drill guide and as you compress your drill's trigger your vacuum turns on automatically sucking all of the loose woodchips through the Kreg Dust Collection Attachment. As soon as your hole is done, you release the trigger and your drill and vacuum wind down simultaneously.  Cool, right? Definitely!

Anyone want to build their own switch that will handle a 240 (220)  volt dust collector that is turned on and off by turning on a 120 (110) volt accessory such as a drill or sander?  If you do, I have plans that I used to build my own about 15 yrs ago and works with either voltage combinations .  It has worked without any problem in my cabinet shop.  It consists of a metal electrical box common in most electrical supply stores like home depot and lowes,  one 240 volt relay from a electric furnace controlled with a 110 volt circuit coil  and a voltage current sensor switch.    It has the advantage of controlling the large dust collectors by either using a 120 voltage tool as well as that of a 220 volt saw.  There are other combinations that can be wired in as well, such as turning on your dust collector for a floor sweep by flipping a switch.   If interested you are welcome to contact me.

I have owned one for years. It is a good investment. The shut down has a slight delay after the main tool is powered off. I have used it to operate a pump when wet grinding granite. Now I use it with my kreg jig.

I purchased one today and am very disappointed with it.

First the docking station is extremely cheap. The plastic is pathetic. A Lego has more…
