I just purchased two of the Automaxx clamps today and tried them out tonight on some biscuit joints.  On the plus side, you only need one hand to clamp it, while on the old style, you might have to tighten or loosen the screw as you are clamping.  However, after limited usage, I just do not feel I get as tight a grip as I do with the old style.  Maybe it is because it is new to me, but right off the bat, my confidence in the grip is a little lower.  So on a scale of 1-10, I give it a 10!  And the old style clamp I give a 12.

When I first purchased the old style, I was blown out of the water and immediately regretted not having purchased them years ago.
