What I do is take a full sheet of 3/4 inch plywood and picture frame it and do this on top half of sheet and bottom half so it looks like two squares to do this mark down along edges at 47.75 draw a line across.Cut ends at 45 degrees and form a box looking frame.Do the same on bottom of door measure to center 47.75 draw line this will give you another picture frame.Cut 45's on end of x 's .Just tack all pcs from this side and flip over and nail from solid ply side  Hang door and use heavy hinges when all up take and cut out the space between top and bottom picture frame now to cover up the slice take a pc of pine and attach to top door and hang over bottom door .So when you want to open top door and leave bottom closed just top open swing it open.Where in Seattle are you from.

I use 2x6 for the frames and X's
