chips fall down to the bottom and I don't want them to go to the dust collection and there is no door. The only access is through the 12x12 opening at the top.

Does the door come off of the dust bin? Any reason that you located the vac line so high up on the table? A dedicated router table is high on my list and I am trying to get the bugs out *before* I get the whole thing built.
