Once pieced together these cabinets will form a vanity in a very narrow bathroom. The oak came from two different sources so I hope they will stain to suit me. Any ideas about what to do about a top would be appreciated. I will need to drop the glass bowl into the vanity about 2 inches. (I'm only 5'2")

I think you did an excellent job describing it. The use of the collar is a great idea. So it covers any imperfections in my tile? That was what I was worried about. The glass bowl is translucent enough that I was affraid the "work" would be seen. Problem solved. And just in time. I was planning on just starting over on this next week.

Using tile is a great idea. I am worried about adding height to it with the underlayment etc. My friend (that works at Lowes) saw it and suggested granite tile. I thought about that since I am putting it in the shower anyway. Then it would match and tie it in. My fear with that is in dropping the glass bowl I would have to deal with a large hole and how to get it cut out.
Ferg do you use cement board under countertop tile?

The cabinet is 18 1/2" deep and originally I built a custom oak top for it. Then added the other section of drawers on the right. A large tiled shower (48"X84") is going in on the back side of that wall. We sacrificed some room at the vanity for this reason. If I had it to do over again I would have given it more room and made the shower 42X84. My advice on bathroom remodeling... Visit bathrooms in several houses and get a feel for the space you want. BUT... once that awesome shower is in I don't think I will care much.

How deep is the cabinet? I am getting ready to build and install some non-standard sized cabinets in the back hallway of my house. Keep us updated on this project- I am re-doing both my bathrooms soon.

I purchased one today and am very disappointed with it.

First the docking station is extremely cheap. The plastic is pathetic. A Lego has more…
