thanks, actually no. the legs are tightly dadoed and the dowels are over 2.5" with 3 on each leg. Besides, from my perspective, with the lenght and height, it looks better this way. It was the whole idea.

Nice job pierre ,have you thought of installing a horizontal rail between the two uprights for added strength?.
