Shanty-2-Chic girls inspired this. I could find any 4x4 untreated so I took two 2x4s and glued and nailed together.

Thanks Cheryl;

I just wanted to know if it was something that the Shanty Chicks said to do. You are correct the best way to stain treated wood is to leave it out in the sun for 2 or 3 months until the sun bleaches it lighter then stain it but I do not think you really need to use pressure treated it will probably last for years with out any problem.

Hi Jeff,

The treated wood they had at HD was really dark and dare I say...ugly, plus I'm just getting started so I wasn't sure I could stain the treated wood.

Cheryl;

Nice job, just curious why you need to use untreated wood?

Jeff
