The frame is also made from rough-cut 4/4 heart pine, 12" wide, finished the same way as the desk surface. The frame is joined to the underside of the desktop with 28 pocket screws. Here, I'm dry-fitting the legs, which are just new 2 x 8s stained and poly'd to match, which required 5 coats of one stain color and a couple of another to get them close. The two pieces laying loose are the leg braces, with tenons already cut.
