Sanding off finishing mistake

I had two HUGE finishing mistakes. This was my first attempt at fixing the first mistake... where I attempted to apply a lacquer finish when it was way too cold in my garage. It wasn't warm enough for the finish to 'flow', so I was attempting to sand, then re-coat, sand, then re-coat, etc.

The second disaster was when I attempted to respray a new finish, which apparently conflicted with the first finish resulting in THIS::::http://kregjig.ning.com/photo/ruined-clear-coat?context=album&a...

The sander was excellent. Very smooth. Unfortunately... it wasn't good enough to fix my finishing mistake! :)
