All 4 shelves I made - 3 along top and one is lower left. I put L-hooks on 2 of them. They are very strong - that is an 18" pipe wrench hanging from one of them.

Yes the ends of the hooks would have to be worked. They will also will need to be evened out as each one is not exactly the same height. Rubber tips could be purchased but I think it would change the look - will look store bought, not custom. Maybe, a different type hook altogether. Gold even.

Using those hooks you have for ties may require either filing the hook tips smooth so they don't snag the tie or find some caps or dip the tips in Rubber Dip.

You see a tool rack, I see a belt and tie rack! One of those would look nice painted in my built-in closet to hold all the belts and ties I never where in the workshop.
