Lynn, I guess the answer to your questions is yes. I built from scratch, but I got the idea from a highboy dresser my fathe left me.

I DO have plans for the dresser, but they are hand drawn, as is the materials list. I'll need to check them for accuracy, etc., but I'll be happy to share.

I don't know if I mentioned or not, but I left a storage area under the bottom drawer to hold the parts for the top three drawers, when my grandson out grows the toy box.

If this area was eliminated, you could make the drawers wider.

This is a great idea.  Did you convert an existing dresser or build from scratch? Do you have plans you could share?  This would make a great quilt or blanket storage unit.
