My new work table, built with shiplap and 2x4's, screwed together, but not with kreg screws.

If it was for the kitchen, I would do the framing underneath a bit more decorative. I am actually thinking about doing a kitchen table. Taking the edges off the shiplap so I have a flat edge, joining them with kreg screws or using a biscuit cutter or cutting my own tongue and groove in the table top planks(shiplap). The shiplap we have in New England, is from white pine, a terribly soft wood, but the grain gives a beautiful look when finished with stain and polyurethane I of course would glue the seams on the table top so that the seams would be water tight. The legs would possibly be from 2x4s, probably spruce. trimmed down a bit to get rid of the 2x4 look or maybe I could use 4x4 or 3x3 timbers. 4x4s are just too bulky. Shiplap is $6.12 for an 8' piece at Home Depot, it is about the cheapest wood you can buy, I'm talking about solid real wood, not some synthetic junk, and with a little innovation can be turned into a beautiful functional piece of furniture. White pine does have its limitations in strength and softness, but overall it has worked pretty good for me.
it looks like it would be a better center table than a work bench wish I had the room for one mien is on wheel.

I saw the video Kreg put out for this new jig and had high hopes for it.
I purchased one today and am very disappointed with it.
First the docking station is extremely cheap. The plastic is pathetic. A Lego has more…
