Onno,

I have a ''Dust Deputy Cyclone'' rigged up on my mobile shop vac.---

very effective.

Thanks Ken

I have the exact same dust chute and plan to mount it under and behind the saw. I'll have a wooden chute that will direct the dust down to the plastic dust hood. I have the Dust Deputy cyclone hooked up to the shop vac. I used a cyclone lid for a garbage can for a while, but the dust deputy works much better. I'll be working on a more centralized dust system once all the other shop makeovers are complete.

Hey David.
One of the reasons I choose this design was to save space. When not in used the saw slides back and the fences flip down, out of the way. That way the bench surface is always available and if there is any clutter it won't interfere with the saw when needed. This is replacing a bench that I already had there plus the miter saw. The bench on the right is the same height as the tablesaw and will be used for support for oversized pieces.

Making a model or template from cardboard is the way to go, before making the final product.

I keep a stack of broken down cardboard boxes, just for those purposes.

Install a dust chute behind the machine, and attached to a vac system.

Tabletop Dust...

A dust hood, such as this, is very useful behind a miter slide saw

FastCap® ChopShop Saw Hood™

A dust separator is valuable---

it captures the sawdust, and

keeps the vac filters cleaner.

I am hoping that more of the dust will be collected than before. I will have a vacuum hose attached to where the saw usually has it's dust bag, then from underneath at the back will be a chute that should channel chips down to an other vacuum port. I haven't built that part yet... Maybe on my next week end. I experimented a bit and I think this arrangement should work fairly, I did try some MDF and that still had a cloud of fine dust. I don't cut much MDF with the miter saw anyways.
