i just met a guy the other day who makes countertops and such. may give him the wood and have him glue it up and run it through his big planer. mine is only a 13" planer.  boards i have range from 5" to a lil over 6".

I now the egdeing around the buttom is 3" so the cheast sits up 2" higher which make's it 16" tall. now if you glue them togather use a lot of clamp bars and dont be sigy with the glue if it was me I would use two 7" pace's

ha. they look bigger for some reason in the picture.  i've got a few pieces of cedar i need to run through a planer and i was trying to figure out what to make.  always wanted to make a blanket chest but don't really have anywhere to put it afterwards... haha

Well Jon to tell you the truth I got it that way some guy orderd the wood and never came for it so B&B Door but you can make your own clamp table all you need is some 2x4's and some clamps and a lot of glue.

how did you join the wood slats in the box portion?? been wanting to make one myself but curious how to make it without showing all of the pocket holes in every board... dont have biscuit joiner or dowels. so any other tips other than those???  I know i can use kreg on bottom underneath.

Jig settings for 2 ¾ x 1 ½ boards with 30 degree miters?
