thanks  Gary this was a friend of mines  grandmothers machine .   I also made a  lamp out of the working part of the old machine.

Those old singer sewing machines are heavy and very rugged. Nice idea my mother had a sewing machine just like it.

It looked like marble, at a glance---

the reason for my concerns.

The sewing machine table  to is not  stone  . It is  counter top remnant from  Menards/ the base machine stand is heavy and will not  topple  over very  easy  even if  over loaded/

I think it is not stone top, I think it's formica covered wood or melamine, such as those used in kitchen. greetings from Monterrey Mexico, where we exist also fans of the structural and Kreg system ... although I have to get everything in texas but it monterrey LOWES store started selling the screws only and only in a few sizes.

Cecil,

SAFETY CONCERN:

Insure that the ''stone'' top is adequately secured in place,

and the base is secured to the floor or foundation.

Excessive loading will result in the unit toppling over, and result in injuring.
