Believe it or not I used 1x2x8 for the facing and support pieces.  Plywood for the base/top/shelf. and 1x12x8 pine trimmed with 1x2 to get a true 12" for the doors.  And some screen trim for the door fronts.  And lets not forget the door casing I used for trim.

Nice job. Looks like my laundry room. I am starting the exact same project, cabinets over washer/dryer.
