Thanks Kerry! :)
Sweet!
Hi Robert - Sometimes you can find some pieces at Home Depot that are cut-offs. They sell them for $1. They mark the top with Yellow. As you can see in the picture, I used one of them on the 2nd layer. I usually check it out to see what they have. And thanks for the title of "Ultimate workbench Queen". I like it! :) LOL
Hi Robert - For the top, I used plywood for the bottom layer. I mostly used scrap for the entire workbench. I had some 5/8 inch mdf and particle board that I put together with the Kreg jig. I used 3 pieces for the 2nd layer. I used the Bench Dog dual track that Rockler had on special. It worked out great because I used some Melamine doors from an old cabinet and the doors were 5/8" and I laid the track next to it and it was perfect. I didn't have to route a groove. I just put the track down and since the doors were 23 7/8 inches wide, I cut them to length and put down another track, etc... I will post a picture for you showing the 2nd layer. Hopefully the picture will show you what I did. Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks for your interest.
I didn't want to cut the track so I fit it into the trim piece.
I had to use some filler pieces for the first layer when I added the box on the back. Hopefully this makes sense. :)
One other question for Lori, the ultimate workbench queen... can you give a quick rundown on the top construction... did you use pre made mdf shelves like you can get at Home Depot? then sandwich them between pieces of channel track?
Lorrie i have a small chip extractor for the big machines, but i have adapted my cheap hoover/ vacum for my sanders .its simply a flexiable length of hose that fixes one end i push the hoover end in the other end on the sanders its a cheap fix . Got fed up with hoovering everytime i sand.Only done this 2 weeks ago some sort of a dust extractor is a must for your health ,especially me as i have had pneumonia twice.Other than that its what james said use the fairy dust ha.Take care mick.
She produces fairy dust and it magically disappears. :)
Hi Mick, I vacuum it up! I don't have a dust collection system and I don't want to track it into the house. I also have a small dog that can't keep her nose off the ground! She is not with me when I am working, but I need the keep the area clean so she won't eat the sawdust! LOL :) Thanks
Hi lorrie, yours is the tidiest shop i have seen in a long time.Where do you hide the sawdust?
Hi Robert, thanks for the nice comment. I don't really have any plans. I just made it up as I went along. I posted quite a few pictures of the build. I started out with the cabinet face frame. I would put a couple of things down on paper to see if it would work and then just build it. I used 3 layers for the top. Plywood for the bottom layer, and the next two layers were 5/8 " Melamine doors that I had in the garage. I used the Benchdog dual track for the track on the top. It was the perfect height. I got the "tool section" idea from this Kreg community. A couple of members had made one for their Kreg jig. I think if you search Kreg Jig you will be able to find it. sorry I don't have any plans for you. Thanks again for the comment. Let me know if you would like to see additional photos and of what section. I could post them for you. :)

Hi. I'm wondering if anyone has used the Woodpecker Free Hand Guard for dust collection on their bench top router table during pattern routing. How effective is it? It's adaptable to any router table. Continue

I saw the video Kreg put out for this new jig and had high hopes for it.
I purchased one today and am very disappointed with it.
First the docking station is extremely cheap. The plastic is pathetic. A Lego has more…
