I'm planning to build a modified version of the Woodsmith shop workbench as well.  Mine will be shorter (5 feet long) because I have a small shop and will only have one overhang.  I also plan to build in a router table with dust collection as well though I plan to buy a commercial mounting plate for it.  I like the idea of the extra plate with downdraft holes for sanding and will steal borrow that idea from you as well.  I'm planning on having posts all the way to the floor on the end with the overhang but will put on heavy duty casters (fixed, not swivel) on the other end to give me some mobility.  I already have a nice 3-drawer cabinet I built for my old workbench that I plan to move to the new one.  I'm open to any ideas, warnings, or suggestions others may have.  I probably won't get to it until winter as I already have 2 beds to complete.  Wish me luck!

If this doesn't work. Go to that web site and create a free account and from there you will be able to see all kinds of projects, including shop jigs. GL
