working the Kreg like a pro...I like to put a level on top to make sure I stay level on big boards. Does anyone else do this? or know of a better way to keep the wood straight>

Also, I have an older model..that came with extensions that go out about a foot . they are blue plastic pieces that butt right up to the jig. I took a 3/4 inch. piece of plywood about 2 foot x 3 foot wide and and mounted the jig and wings to the plywood. I leave it there all the time.... clamp it whereever I want or screw it down.....works great and with the 3 foot width I can put big boards on it....You can do the same thing with boards out to the side. make em the same thickness as jig....works great....

If you use your kreg jig alot and also have a work bench, take a piece of plywood the same thickness as your benchtop...make the piece just bigger than your jig and screw your jig to this piece, set the jig on the bench where you will want to work with it. scribe around it. cut the bench out where the piece will fit. Cut down the front of the bench deep enough so the jig will go down and be flush with top of bench. mount blocks under and beside plywood so jig with plywood slides in and out. adjust this so it is even with top of bench. you can leave this in or make a duplicate piece to slide in and use the bench without the jig being there....keep on Jigging !!!!!!

Hey Angie. I used some MDF scrap and built the wood up until it is even with the top. It can be any type of wood you may have. I did this on both sides. There is a picture or two on my page how I set up my Kreg Jig. This is very useful for supporting longer pieces and It is easy to clamp it to a table.

take some stock same thickness as your jig and lay out under wood and use that  leave level on wall

use a couple scrap boards on eather side of the jig to support the larger pieces...or make a table so the jig is lower then the table top, but level with the feed area so it clamps the board level.

I am just starting on a project with some large pieces. I have my jig mounted in a way that it is flush with the adjacent surface to provide support. There are pictures on this site. Look for "completed" posted this year on January 30th. There are other jig mounts on this site that use other means of supporting the workpiece.

I saw the video Kreg put out for this new jig and had high hopes for it.

I purchased one today and am very disappointed with it.

First the docking station is extremely cheap. The plastic is pathetic. A Lego has more…
