Building it now, thanks Jim

Angie, It's a window box not a planter box. It's meant to hold small flower pots.

If you want to fill it with soil you will have to close in the back of the box to hold the soil.

Thanks Jim, I've got a lot of 1x3's laying around and 1x2's...one last question...is the planter box lined, or did you make holes for drainage?

thanks for the great project, angie

Hi Angie,

The entire project is made of 3/4" cedar fence board but you can use anything you have hanging around. If you plan on painting it you may want to use older cedar boards that the oils have dried up or another species of wood (pallets are perfect for this).

The Stiles are 32”Long  x 2 &1/4” Wide

Rails are 18” Long x  2 &1/4 Wide

There are five 1" wide Mutton bars. Four are 8 &1/2" long  and one is 23” long

The Box is 4” High plus the 3/4 x 1" trim on top

The front of the box is 24" wide

The side of the box is 5" wide

The bottom of the box is 22&1/2" by 4&1/4" (you can also see on this picture that I installed a strip of scrap along the back of the box between the stiles to keep the pots from sliding back against the wall)

The Top accent piece is 24&1/2" by 2&1/4" with a 25 degree bevel cut on three sides

The french cleat is attached to the top rail and a spacer of the same thickness as the cleat is attached to the bottom rail to keep it level and also allow plants like ivy to wrap around the frame easily.

Have fun with it and change the dimensions to suit your needs.

Free Hand Guard (dust collection)

Hi.  I'm wondering if anyone has used the Woodpecker Free Hand Guard for dust collection on their bench top router table during pattern routing.  How effective is it?  It's adaptable to any router table.  Continue

New Kreg 720Pro

I saw the video Kreg put out for this new jig and had high hopes for it.

I purchased one today and am very disappointed with it.

First the docking station is extremely cheap. The plastic is pathetic. A Lego has more…
