The vertical members can be hinged at the top inside ---

fold-inward, so the unit can store flat.

 

The panel/shelf  between the uprights, to provide stability, can be hinged, at the ends and in the center.

When folded, the hinged panel/shelf to fit inside the cut-out of the uprights.

 

A simple project that can be accomplished by some woodworkers.

 

For the beginner/novice I'd suggest making a model from 1/4" plywood, so as to work out the details,

before commencing with the final product.

With the second piece under set a bit to reduce the visual weight.

It may just be two thicknesses of 3/4 material and the angle the picture was taken from hides that.

It looks like to me it is all Kreg tooling. it appears that he recessed the rails for the clamps and the keyhole hold down location. It is my understanding that in order to have a strong hold down on the rails for building face frames that the material would have to be 3/4in thick to bolt to then the thickness of the rails to make it flush with the surface. Don't forget the thickness of the laminate as well. I think the tabletop itself is the easy part to build. It's the folding part that might have people baffled. The rails (pt#KKS1020) come 34in. long and are 3/4in thick. Screwing the rails to 1/2 plywood then gluing 3/4 in plywood to make up the thickness of the rails and then you would have the rails in place. Glue the laminate and you would have the surface. I am sure with all the talent out there someone can make this.

Looks home made to me.  This is where I have a lot of questions, because it looks like he save a lot of weight, but I wonder if he gave up some stability and/or flatness.

Well folks will have to come up with their own design. Is the top a Kreg top or home made with Kreg tooling.

I get where you are coming from.  I just didn't want this forum to go the way of so many others, where civility takes a back seat to need.  I would love to have more detail.  I mean, why reinvent the wheel?  I don't visit here often, and if it weren't for the email notifications to this thread, I wouldn't have been here now.

My first post was on September 16, and I even sent a message, with no response. If that was me and got all these raving reviews on my project I would ecstatic.  To me it's like calling someone and he never returns your phone calls! Maybe you guys are right he's a little eccentric. I am sorry if I offended anyone.

It is very exasperating  see all these responses from others and not one reply from the original poster.

Where I work, we have what we call "Best Practices" So when another divisions finds something that really works well, they share it with all the other divisions so we could all enjoy the success they had!

I have to agree with KgPhoto. Cut him some slack. I it amazes me that as talented woodworkers with yrs. of experience that some of you can't come up with something similar. Why do you have to have an "EXACT" copy of it? Maybe he has submitted it for a patent? Maybe he is having the plans copy written? Or maybe he is marketing it with Kreg? Why plagiarize someone else's product?

Hey cut him some slack.  Maybe he doesn't visit often.  Maybe he is on vacation, or sick or injured or perhaps he died.  He gave us some inspiration, so let's be thankful for that and do the best we can.
