This jig is used to centre fence rail hangers on fence posts. The depth of the cutout is equal to the hieght of a 2 X 4 with the rail hanger, so a string line is set for the hieght of the top tail. The jig is held with the top at the string line & the nails are started through the holes. Remove the jig & finish hammering in the nails. it's ugly, but it works.

Thanks. I just know that if I have to do the same job repeatedly, I'm gonna mess it up. I find the time spent making a jig is well worth it in the end.
