I was going to purchase an entertainment center for my Home Theater system. Now, you have given me an inspiration to build one. Great job and nice details!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
thats really nice, I like the different woods also, I do stuff like that all the time. The contrasting woods really shows off the quality job that you did I also think that the doors are unique, you dont see doors like that everyday
Thank you, Jay, for your kind words. I found the basic plan online and made some minor tweaks to it. The original plan called for two tones of stain. I thought it made more sense to use two different woods. As for the maple, I just didn't buy enough birch. LOL I also eliminated a DVD drawer that was called out. I thought an open shelf looked better. The camera is just not capturing how rich the grain turned out. I'll try to get a better picture now that it has made it inside.
Though I didn't use a lot of pocket holes on this piece, it certainly could have been accomplished with a minimum of complex joints.
Hugh, "pretty cool" is not describing what you have here. Fantastic is more fitting. It is stunning to the eye with the special built doors that are absolutely amazing in their form. I have seen many doors and built just as many however never saw one like this one. It is a design that actually would sell this entertainment center to just about anyone. Looking at them there is nothing to block or distort any sound waves from the speakers should they be housed behind them. Although open is design they still have a look of security.
I do like the choice of material as I have also a fondness of walnut and birch or maple. They have a mellow feel to the cabinet yet still a eye grabbing effect. You have definately shown another approach to the word "craftsmanship" Excellent work and design, I believe you should make some to market and you would do well with them. Thank your for sharing.

I saw the video Kreg put out for this new jig and had high hopes for it.
I purchased one today and am very disappointed with it.
First the docking station is extremely cheap. The plastic is pathetic. A Lego has more…
