Brett - I also attached the back support rail with Kreg screws from the underside.

Brett- It is attached by screwing it from the bottom back into the cleat that the seating slats are attached to and screwed from the front into the back support with a countersinked screw. You can check out the plan at; search " simple white" loveseat.
