Comment by John Harrison on April 7, 2011 at 8:49pm: To make the arm rests, I took a piece of tread and cut it 6" wide and 10" long. I took the same piece and split into 2 equal pieces using the table saw.

Take the 2 pieces and router top & bottom edges (3 sides - not back edge) using a 1/4" round over bit.
