I can tell that you have some experience and especially note the fact that you are man with an exceptional amount of talent and is dedicated to your work.

I have nothing against plans however my thought about a plan it seems to always have a flaw of some kind that requires some changing to make it work.  My stuff is all custom and I can't build it from a plan or it would not be a custom piece.  It would be a copy. 

 I do understand that many have no experience with building and when they look at a potential project they are  over whelmed with how to go about it.  A plan to them is like a roadmap  is to traveler lost in a land he has never been in.   I'm sorry to say that I don't have any plans to offer them but will gladly go the extra mile to help anyone with a project. 

I keep saying that everyone has a certain amount of talent however like you say you have to develope them.  You can only develope them by hard work and use each mistake as a learning experience.  If you make a mistake a craftsman in someone who can first recogonize it and the find a solution to fix the mistake.  After all the best teacher in the world is a mistake.  Where most fail is the ones whom begin to doubt that they can do it.  The first thing they say is, "I can't do it" and then they are defeated before they begin.

Fortunately I, like yourself have worked all my life using my hands and my mind.  Being a automotive mechanic-machinest before entering law-enforcement taught me many things.  Being a mechanic taught me to reason out why an automobile refused to run correctly, being a machinest taught me how to use my hands even to a degree greater that twisting bolts thus giving me skills to  greater detail where it had to be to a perfection to be correct.  Law-enforcement taught me to reason out the why it happened and how it happened and the patience to deal with what ever came my way.  Life has been a continued educaation and remains so today.

 thank you very much Jay,,  i can say the same thing about your work too,,  all these people asking me about plans!!!! lol,, i don't want tobe mean but i want to tell them to uses their brains and come up with their own ideas and you can that alot more pride and alot more out of doing it your self,, it take alot of years and alot of mistakes to be good at anything you would do,,  i grow up around it and i guess i take for granite that other people haven't,, i have worked with my hands all my life,,  i also do hardwood flooring and tile work and any type of carpentry, i have sawdust in my blood

Hi Matt, I have been seeing some very nice projects lately and wanted to compliment you on several. They all have special features and all have shown quality and excellent execution of craftsmanship.  It shows talent and dedication to your work.

 I like your methods that you use to build.  I do the same thing and do not build from any plans.  Like you say wood changes many things in how you have to put it together.  All I need is an idea as to what the customer wants and the sizes and I start building.   This way nothing I build is a duplicate of someone else and assures the customer that they are definately getting a "one of a Kind".  This is what I call a true custom piece. 

Anyway Matt I just wanted to say your work is great and I have appreciated the posted projects.  I for one understand the hard work you do to make your work what it is.  Thanks for sharing your craftsmanship.

am Matt by the way, but fatboyzz is ok too,,, i don't use plan or any thing like that,,, i just build what ever the customer wants,,, it all in my head,, i know how i want to put something togetheir and do it,, you can't go by a plan cause with wood everything can change, in the case of these to nightstands they want them to match their 2 dressers that they had me refinish for them also,, 4 days time to start and finish,, 2 days were to build,, but i get my materail from a local sawmill so i have to plane and sand every thing before i can get started,, and these wider boards i had to belt sand them smooth because my planer was not big enough,, and 2 day to paint and finish,, when you paint a peice you have to chaulk all the seem's so that has to dry,, and paint has to dry so you can sand between coats so the finish product is nice,,

Yes I agree, they are just beautiful, may I please have your 1st name I cannot call anyone fatboy lol . How long did it take Ypu to complete from start to finish? And did Ypu make plans or had them or bought them? I'm just wondering how Ypu decide to build a project?
