The raw ingredients for the second chest of drawers. Very rough quarter sawn white oak that had beautiful grain patterns.

Thanks for the comment, James. Yes, it really planed down nicely. I actually used this lumber for my 2nd chest of drawers, which I finished a couple months ago. I have a picture on my page of both chests I built, and this wood went in the one on the right. BTW, I saw that you are proficient at SketchUp - I tried to use that, but I guess I better go back and do the tutorials - I never could get things sized correctly.

Thanks for the comment. It does make one appreciate the skills and tools plus, I am still learning about how different one piece of lumber is from another - even when they are the same species. To me, part of the fun is selecting the wood for a project, and trying to imagine what I can cut from a board and how it will look. I still have a lot to learn about that process, but the place I get my lumber is very patient and lets me look through their stock for as long as I like! Do you have a picture up of the bed you built?
